Task
In the previous operation we had gotten our hands on a cache of weapons, which we sent to the priest of a local church to create a local militia. This militia attempted to scout and engage the last insurgent element on the southern port, but were defeated.
However this granted us some intel, there are a lot of heavy equipment, weapons and vehicles in entrenched positions. From the previous op we could also deduct that they had access to basic air assets (read civilian helicopters with welded on weapons).
Planning
We took on the task to deal with the port garrison with a squad element plus one bradley. We decided to move in from the east — which had the best avenue of approach but also their most defended flank. However the open terrain would allow us to use our firepower in a more efficient way, compared to fighting in close quarters.
Execution
As planned we moved towards the village, one fireteam in a bradley and the the other in a JLTV. We dismounted before the objective, where we took positions and quickly gained fire superiority against the port garrison. We bounded towards the objective while the bradley kept the garrison supressed. We continued to clear buildings without much drama, with only a couple of close encounters.
We found the priest there as well, who managed to translate some intel we found, which was basically just a threat from a higher up that the recipient shouldn't fail again, ominous. However since the priest had a russian AK plus russian armor, he had freak accident while we were clearing the last buildings.
Conclusion
Textbook advance, bound and clearing. Fun OP — though a bit sad its the last OP of this series, next OP we'll return to the regular game master.
